This great article not only shares the calming, relaxing, and bonding benefits of giving dogs a daily massage, but also using it as a way to notice any differences over time. Do you give your dog massages? What top tips do you suggest?

I found a great little article about paws. Those sweet puppy paws. "We all swoon for puppy-dog eyes, cocked ears and a wagging tail, but it would be a mistake to give your pup's paws short shrift." Are you wanting to work jogging into routine? Then, check out How to Go Jogging with Your Dog. The article touches on working with your veterinarian to safety to the actual jogging plan to special considerations. Definitely worth a read.
Probiotics is a hot topic at the moments. Do you give your dogs probiotics?
Check out this article on Dogs Naturally, The Scoop on Probiotics for Dogs. It gives the down low on why and when to feed them to your dog. Saturday after our walk in the park, we found a little tick on Dougie. Thankfully, we had Emma on hand, who is fully trained in animal first aid, to come to the rescue.
How to Safely Remove a Tick from your Dog or Cat is a great little article which includes a video for those of us who need more information on how to remove the little blighters from our fur babies. By the way, Dougie has happily recovered from his brush with the tick. :0) Photo credit: http://www.pet-health-care-gazette.com/2014/05/18/how-to-safely-remove-a-tick-from-your-dog-or-cat-video/ At Satuday's Westie Walk, I noticed a very 'cool' invention. Oh, I know. Bad pun. Cool Coats are worn by dogs to keep them cool as the summer temperatures rise. Above you'll see a Cool Coat modelled by Sweep. It really works! He was cool as a cucumber. The coats are sold by Prestige Pet Products located here in the UK. Our friends in Essex created these coats which are lightweight, cool, and soft to the touch. They are 100% synthetic material and are simple to use, wash, and store. They come in yellow, blue, and purple. Sizes range from extra small to extra large. Prices can be found on the website. If you are concerned about the warmer days of summer and keeping your pooch cool, check these out at Prestige Pets. This article by Petco Blogger is full of great tips. Everything from hydration, avoiding sunburns, water safety, backyard tips, ID tags to pet first aid and more. Click here to read the article... Outdoor Safety Tips I found this article a few days ago and I completely see where the author is coming from. I visited the gym less because I felt bad leaving that sweet little face at home, plus I just loved spending time with him! Like the author's dog, Monty spent a lot of time on our walks sniffing things, so our walks were a bit slower. Not that I minded, it was his time to get out and explore and I loved that.
The author gives some great tips for how to have 'go out and explore walks' and 'workout walks' with dogs. When I get my next pup, I will definitely try these out. Although...with Westies and those short little legs...I am not entirely sure how fast we will be moving. Hehe. We received a letter from the Environmental Agency letting us know that we were in an area where there was significant threat to life. Luckily for us, the water never reached our house, but in the case that it did, I wish I would have read this article to be prepared to leave with everything little Monty would need.
I found this article on disaster preparedness for pets. I especially liked the part about the pet evacuation kit. Although this article focuses on dogs, it is full of great ideas for all types of pets. Have you been evacuated before? What did you find useful to have on hand? What do you wish you would have brought with you? Click here to read the article. Be Prepared for a Disaster: Our Tips for Evacuating with Dogs |
